You can start your journey anywhere along the Great New Zealand Touring Route and then travel either anti-clockwise or clockwise.
The itinerary's provides the visitor with an option to either follow the coast through the Coromandel, Bay of Plenty, Hawke's Bay, or back inland to the Ruapehu region, Lake Taupo, Rotorua, Waikato and back up to Auckland International Airport, or in a reverse direction.
The route, while compact, is varied and covers diverse parts of New Zealand. The Great New Zealand Touring Route is the only place in New Zealand where you can experience everything from beaches to snowy-capped mountains, not to mention geothermal activity, rain forest, and Maori culture.
